Volunteer and change lives!
HACC volunteers are part of the heart and soul of this organization, and we could not empower as many people as we do without their help. We have ongoing, one-time, short-term, and long-term opportunities to volunteer. Below is a list of our current volunteer needs, which can be done individually or in groups.

Monday mornings: 8:00 a.m.–11:00 a.m.
Wednesday: 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Thursday: 2:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m
Friday: 10:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.
Health and Human Services Case Management Intern
We are looking for an undergraduate student! The intern will be able to learn how to assist with: emergency food, Food Pantry, Circuit Breaker, emergency assistance, and referrals to services within and outside the Howard Area Community Center.
Become an Adult Literacy Tutor
- Teach adults to read or teach English as a second language.
- Requires a commitment to two 6-hour training sessions. We then ask for a 6-month commitment to tutor once a week for 2 hours. Can be evenings or Saturday mornings, as well as during a week day.
