Energy and Emergency Assistance
Families should not have to choose between heating their homes and feeding their children. And in Chicago, this can actually be the difference between life and death during the winter.
Since energy costs are on the rise and low-income families are hit the hardest, HACC works with CEDA to provide energy assistance for light, cooling, and heat. One form of assistance at HACC is through the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). Families receive one-time assistance or set up payment plans according to their needs.
HACC also provides emergency assistance for Rogers park residents. Community members can make good faith payments for utilities and receive assistance with emergencies such as buying a bed, materials for starting employment like uniforms, and other one-time needs.
