Parents are the first and most important teachers of their children. The Family Literacy program meets parents and caretakers where they are and provides training to meet their family’s goals for child development.

The Family Literacy program provides:
- Childcare while adult learners are in classes at HACC
- Workshops about educational children’s games and activities that promote brain and motor skill development
- Training in cooking nutritious and affordable meals
- Bonding activities to create healthy, strong bonds between parents and their children
Family Literacy participants also go on field trips to the park and library, and in the summertime on special trips to family friendly places like Lincoln Park Zoo and Chicago Botanic Gardens.
Ages: 3 months – 5 years’ old
Currently enrolled Adult Education students and their children while adult learners are taking classes.
